Application are invited for admission to Ph.D (2015-18) and ADC Programmes (2015-17)

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Major research areas include Forge Technology, Mechanical behavior of Metals, Forming Technology, and Powder Forging.

Eligibility Criteria

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): M.E/M.Tech from a recognized Institute/University in Mechanical, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and allied disciplines with a least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate (or)

B.E/B.Tech or its equivalent from a recognized Institute/University in Mechanical, Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and allied disciplines with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate

Note: To be eligible for Institute scholarship, a valid GATE Score/NET qualification is mandatory for candidates not possessing M.E/M.Tech degree.

Advanced Diploma Course (ADC): Diploma in Automobile / Metallurgical / Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering / B. Sc. Degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks.

In all programmes, a relaxation of 0.5 CGPA (or 5% marks) is allowed for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.

Those appearing in the final qualifying exam may also apply; however, such candidates will have to produce all the relevant documents within 60 days from the date of admission.

No further extension will be allowed beyond the stipulated period under any circumstances and his/her admission will be cancelled.

Few seats are available in ADC for sponsored candidates.

Scholarship

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): Rs.18000/- per month for the first two years and Rs 20,000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th year for candidates admitted with Institute scholarship; however scholarship may be enhanced as per MHRD norms.

Advanced Diploma Course (ADC): Rs.2500/- per month for all selected candidates; no scholarship for sponsored candidates.

Application Form

The application forms and information brochure can be obtained by sending requisite application fee, in the form of demand draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology payable at Ranchi along with a self-addressed, stamped (Rs.40/-) envelope of 28 x 16 cm size, to the Dean (Academic).

The application forms and information brochure can also be obtained in person from the academic section of the Institute by producing demand draft towards application fee.

Application Fee

PhD - Rs.1000/- for General/OBC and Rs.500/- for SC/ST

ADC - Rs.500/- for General/OBC and Rs.250/- for SC/ST

The application forms downloaded from the Institute website must be accompanied with the requisite application fee in the form of DD drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology payable at Ranchi.

The Institute will not be responsible for any postal delays/loss

Selection Procedure

Ph.D: Screening and interview; list of shortlisted candidates and the dates of screening test and/or interview will be announced late in the Institute website only; no postal communication will be sent in this regard

ADC: Written test will be held at NIFFT, Hatia, Ranchi on 28th June 2015

The following centers may also be available (subject to receipt of sufficient applications): Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune; candidates must give choice of two centers as per preference

Last date for receipt of completed application for both course: 30th May 2015 by 05.30 PM

ADC for written test will be held at NIFFT, Hatia, Ranchi on 28th June 2015 (Sunday, 10.00 am to 01.00 pm)

ADC Date of publication of result on Institute website: 15th July 2015
