Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Bandra Reclamation, Bandra (West), Mumbai-400050, a registered society under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Government of India, has invited applications for admission to various Programmes for the academic year 2009-10. The Institute imparts professional training in the area of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Special Education (Hearing Impairment). It also provides clinical & rehabilitation services for persons with hearing impairment and communication disorders and is engaged in research and developmental activities.
The Courses and Eligibility are as follows.
Master of Education (Hearing Impairment) M.Ed (HI): B.Ed (HI) or any other equivalent Degree from a recognized University with 50% aggregate marks/B.Ed. (SE-DE) (HI) with 50% aggregate marks and one year teaching experience/B.Ed. (Gen) with 50% aggregate marks and D.Ed(HI)/ DSE(HI) with 50% aggregate marks. (One Year Course, Mumbai).
Master of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology: Bachelor of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology or any equivalent Degree recognized by the respective Universities and RCI (including internship). Internship is mandatory for applicants who have completed Bachelor in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology after May/June 2001 (Two Years; Mumbai, Kolkata).
Bachelor of Education (Hearing Impairment): Offered at Mumbai where the eligibility is Three year Degree course and at Kolkata where the eligibility is a Degree in any discipline from any recognized University. (One year Course).
Bachelor of Audiology and Speech - Language Pathology: Pre-University exam of any recognized University in India or equivalent of 10+2/ HSC in India or abroad. For Mumbai center the subject combination needed is Physics, Mathematics with one of Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science or Physics, Biology with one of Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science. For Kolkata, the eligibility is Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English and any other 5th subject. Also offered at New Delhi (4 year Course)
Diploma in Hearing, Language & Speech: 10+2 passed with PCB/PCM or its equivalent. (One Year Course offered Kolkata, New Delhi and Bhubaneswar).
Diploma in Education Special Education (Hearing Impairment): 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board of education with minimum 45% marks (General Category)/ 40% (SC/ST/PH). Two year course, Offered at Kolkata, New Delhi, Bhubaneshwar.
Diploma in Sign Language Interpreter Course: Carries a stipend of Rs. 2,000/- p.m. 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board of education. Preference will be given to more qualified candidates. One year course offered at Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi. Candidates appearing in Class 10 + 2 in 2009 can also apply for courses for which 10+2 is the eligibility. .

The last date for issue and receipt of filled in application is 25.5.2009.
