National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration and eleven other structured courses of study that are imparted at the existing 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 12 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management and 18 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. Six Food Craft Institutes located in different parts of the country offer Diploma Programmes in specific operational areas. All Institutes follow standardised course curricula prescribed by the Council for different professional Programmes.
Quality of education and training provided by the Institutes help students to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors. The Council has till date trained more than 53,000 Hospitality Managers, Executives and other operational personnel. Its alumni from affiliated Institutes occupy key positions in hospitality industry as well as in teaching institutions both in India and abroad.

B.SC. HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME (A FULL TIME REGULAR COURSE)
The Bachelor of Science Programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semester) full time regular course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The Programme also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skill standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management.


ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
QUALIFYING EXAMINATION:

A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2012 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2012.

The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.


Qualifying Examinations for Indian Students
❂ Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
❂ Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
❂ General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
❂ High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.


ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
❂ Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.
❂ H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
❂ Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects.
AGE LIMIT
For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 22 years as on 01.07.2012. Candidates born on or after July 01, 1990 are eligible. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 25 years as on 01.07.2012. That is SC/ST candidates born on or after July 01, 1987 are eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/SC/ST/OBC. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.
At the time of counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admission.

PHYSICAL FITNESS
All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given at APPENDIX - I.

ABOUT THE JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2012

i. Date of written examination is 28th April 2012.
ii. Candidate must report at the written examination centre at 9:00 am

HOW TO APPLY
i. Sale of Application Form and Information Brochure shall commence from 5th December, 2011 from affiliated Institute and selected branches of bank. Details shall be available on the Council’s website www.nchmct.org

ii. Candidates may also apply through on-line from 28th November, 2011 by remitting fee through gateway payment. For on-line application and other details, access

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
a) National Council has instituted Merit based Scholarship Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain 1st, 2nd and 3rd position on All India basis in Council’s Annual Examination in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the course i.e. after completion of both the semesters of the respective year.
b) National Council also provides Financial Assistance to the tune of ` 20,000/- to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates of each Institute. Details can be obtained from the institute.
c) National Council Merit-cum-means scholarship is available in the central Institutes of Hotel Management. The scheme carries refund of semester fee. Details can be obtained from the institute.
d) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates can avail financial assistance from their respective State Governments for which the concerned Institute will issue bonafide certificate indicating fee received from the student.


HOW, WHERE AND BY WHEN TO SEND YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM
Duly completed Application Form should be sent to “JEE CELL” National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, “A-34, Sector 62, Noida-201309” in the pre-addressed envelope through SPEED/REGISTERED POST only. Application sent through private courier service will not be accepted. Applications mailed by Speed/Registered Post after last date shall also not be accepted. Applications can also be submitted By Hand at the National Council.

The Last Date for receipt of Application form is 13th APRIL 2012.


ADMIT CARD TO BE DOWNLOADED FROM www.nchmct.org FROM 19TH APRIL, 2012
The candidate shall have to download the admit card (in duplicate) from 19th April, 2012 onward. Candidate should carefully check the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. In case of any discrepancy, it should immediately be brought to the notice of the JEE CELL in the Council in writing through E-mail jeenchm@gmail.com or through FAX at 0120-2402819. Affix photographs on the both the copies of downloaded admit cards and have the same attested by Gazetted Officer/Head of Institution last attended/Bank Manager of scheduled Bank/Area Post Master. Submit both the admit cards at the written test centre and obtain back one copy of admit card duly signed by the invigilator at the written test centre as a proof of having appeared for the test. Preserve this copy of admit card for presentation at the time of counselling.

The All India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will be held on 28th April, 2012 (Saturday) from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Candidates should report at examination venue atleast one hour before the commencement of the examination.

B.SC PROGRAMME AND SPECIALISATION
❂ The NCHMCT offers B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration as a six semester Programme at all its affiliated institutes.
❂ It also offers Specialization at seven of its institutes located at Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pusa-Delhi.
❂ Candidate will write the All India Entrance Examination which is common for admission to both Programmes.
❂ For Specialisation, limited seats are available at each of the seven institutes and are offered based on performance in the 1st and 2nd semester examination. Selection is made based on merit-cum-choice.
❂ Students can opt for any one of the three areas of Specialisation viz. Food Production Management, Food & Beverage Management and Accommodation Operations Management.
❂ While the first three semesters are common for all the students, specialisation is offered from the 4th semester onwards. No
change of stream of specialisation can be made after allocation.
❂ In order to become eligible for award of degree in B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration by IGNOU, students must complete the NCHMCT component as full time candidates in the affiliated institutes of hotel management as well as clear the credit papers offered by IGNOU during the course of study.
