Post Graduate Diploma (Vocational) Course (Bio-Informatics) (PGDBIN) 

Post Graduate Diploma (Vocational) Course in Bio-informatics is started in the Patna University Computer Centre, with an objective to prepare students for productive with the requisite knowledge that will enable them to pursue a career in Bioinformatics either in academics or in industry

To impart in-depth Training in Theoretical and Practical aspects of applications of Information Technology to solve problems in Biology

To enable the students to acquire an integrated outlook of the subject so that they could become potential researchers in the fields of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics

Educational Qualification: 

Candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate Diploma (Vocational) Course in Bio-informatics must have acquired the graduation degree in Science, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Bio-Chemistry from a University as is estd by law or an equivalent degree thereto as is recognized by Patna University, with atleast 45% marks at the graduation level

Admission Procedure: 

Admission to Post Graduate Diploma (Vocational) Course in Bio-informatics shall be done on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the Aptitude Test to be conducted in this behalf by the Patna University Computer Centre at the beginning of each academic session

The test paper shall consist of 100 objective type questions of multiple choice, each question carrying one mark, to be set from areas of Basic Sciences, Computer Knowledge, Environment and General Studies

The date and time of the test have been announced each year by the University through newspapers

Seats: 
Number of seats in Post Graduate Diploma (Vocational) Course in Bio-informatics shall be a maximum of 50 only; of which 5 seats may be reserved for NRI (Non-Resident Indian) candidates provided they agree to pay fee and other levies to the University in foreign exchange, as is determined by the University from time to time; provided that such fees and levis shall not be less than one and a half times of the fees and levis to be charged from Indian students

A separate merit list shall be prepared for NRI candidates based on the results of the same Aptitude Test and NRI candidates to the course shall be admitted as per this merit list

Should NRI seats remain unfilled due to any reason, the University shall have the authority to fill them from Indian candidates as per their place in the merit list

Reservation:

 Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC etc, shall be as per reservation rules of the State Govt of Bihar
Reservation of seats for admission shall be provided as per reservation rules of the Patna University for various categories

Caste certificates issued by the District Magistrate or SDO or BDO of the district in which the candidate permanently resides is acceptable

Candidates applying for admission under reserved seats must enclose the caste certificate with the application forms at the time of submission of application forms

How to apply: 
The applicant will be required to apply in the prescribed application form also available on the website www.patnauniversity.ac.in and www.pucc.bih.nic.in

It has to be submitted to the Officer In-charge/Course Coordinator, Patna University Computer Centre, Patna University, Patna-800005 on or before the due date

The application form and the prospectus can be obtained either from the Computer Centre on submission of a Bank draft for Rs 1000/- payable to the Officer In-charge, Patna University Computer Centre on any working day from 10.00 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. as per notification or from the website

No additional fee for entrance test will be charged

The cost of application form for the course is Rs 1000/- (Rs 1050/- for postal services along with self addressed envelope of A4 size)

Those who are applying by downloading the form from the website they have to submit the duly filled form along with bank draft for Rs 1000/- in favour of the Officer In-charge, Patna University Computer Centre, payable at Patna

Test Result: The result of the written test and selection list will be displayed on the notice board as well website of Patna University Computer Centre and Patna University www.pucc.bih.nic.in and www.patnauniversity.ac.in

Students selected must take admission as per the schedule displayed on the notice board and said website failing which the claim for admission will be forfeited

Documents to be submitted at the time of admission, mark sheet of qualifying examination; School leaving certificate (SLC)/college leaving certificate (CLC), Migration certificate, if candidate is out of Patna University, stamp size colour photograph-3 copies; caste certificate in original (issued by DM/SDO/BDO) as applicable

Application Form: Candidates are directed to go through the prospectus carefully before filling up the application form

Original documents should not be submitted with the application form

However a candidate must present all documents in original at the time of admission

Candidates must furnish correct information regarding marks obtained in the qualifying examination, caste category and residential address

A student will be liable to punishment in the form of expulsion from the course if any information presented by him/her is found incorrect

FIR may also be lodged if necessary

The course fee under such circumstances will not be refunded and documents will be ceased

Sale of forms: 09th May, 2012 to 18th June, 2012
Last date of submission of filled in form: 20th June, 2012
Date of written test: 24th June, 2012, 11.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m.
Publication of the result: 30th June, 2012
Last date of enrolment: 14th July, 2012
Commencement of classes: 16th July, 2012
