M.Sc Courses Admission-2012
Applications are invited from Indian Nationals only for admission to M.Sc Courses in Basic and Applied Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Applied Geology, Food Processing and Nutrition Sciences) for the session 2012-13

Eligibility: Candidates passing B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent before 2011 are not eligible to apply
Eligibility to get application form for Physics, Chemistry, Food Processing and Nutrition Science, the candidate must obtain a total of 50% marks in the B.Sc (Hons) Part-I.Part-II
For Applied Mathematics, the candidate must obtain a total of 45% marks in B.Sc (Hons) Part-I/Part-II
For Applied Geology, the candidate must obtain a total of 50% marks in the Hons subject Part-I/Part-II
For candidates having Geology as a subsidiary subject, he/she must have a total of 50% marks in the subject (Part-I/Part-II)
For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility for getting application form in any subject is 40% marks in Hons subject (Part-I/Part-II)
Admission Procedure: Candidates fulfilling the criteria for getting application form will be eligible to sit for a written examination (single correct answer MCQ type) to be conducted by the University
The list of the candidates selected for interview on the basis of B.Sc marks and written test will be published in the website
The candidate must submit the B.Sc (final) marksheet at the time of interview
After interview, the final merit list will be prepared with the following weightage, 50 for B.Sc (Hons) marks, 40 for written test, 10 for interview performance
Along with the published list the admission schedule will be displayed
If a candidate enlisted in the merit list does not report at the respective departments to take admission on scheduled date and time, the offer for admission to him/her will stand cancelled and the vacancy arises thereof will be filled up by the following candidate in the merit list
The candidate will have to submit the following at the time of admission, 03 copies of passport size photographs, original marks sheet of B.Sc final examination and attested photocopies, marks sheet of 10+2 or equivalent examination, marks sheet for Madhyamik examination, Admit card/certificate of Madhyamik or equivalent examination for verification of age, SC/ST/PH certificate, if applicable, in the name of the candidate (in original and attested photocopies), blood group certificate, Medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner
Students will be admitted subject to submission of migration certificate within three months from the date of admission
The list of the candidates eligible for written test will be published in the Notice Board and the University website
After written test, candidates called for the interview along with the schedule for interview will be published in the notice board of the University, respective departments and the University website on 02nd August, 2012
A Department wise merit list of candidates will be displayed in the notice boards of University, respective Departments and the University website on 14th August, 2012 along with admission dates and time schedule
Candidates are requested to contact respective departments on the date of admission
The Admission Committee reserves the right of not selecting any candidate who is considered to be physically unfit or otherwise unsuitable
How to apply: Application form is to be downloaded and print out of the same is to be filled up
The filled in application form is to be submitted at the Admission Cell, Office of the Registrar, New Academic cum Administrative Building, BESUS between 10.30 a.m. to 01.30 p.m. and 02.30 p.m. to 04.30 p.m. on working days from 18th June, 2012 to 15th July, 2012 along with a demand draft of Rs 500/- (Rs five hundred only) for general category and Rs 200/- (Rs two hundred only) for SC/ST candidates in favour of the Registrar, BESUS and payable at Kolkata
Application Submission: The filled up application form along with a demand draft of Rs 500/- (Rs 200/- for SC/ST) drawn in favour of the Registrar, BESUS payable at Kolkata are to submitted at the admission cell on all working days between 10.30 a.m. to 01.30 p.m. and from 02.30 p.m. to 04.30 p.m. from 18th June, 2012 to 15th July, 2012
The application form must be accompanied by copies of mark sheet of B.Sc (Hons) (Part-I/Part-II), age verification certificate, marks sheet of 10+2 or equivalent examination, Madhyamik marks sheet; SC/ST/PH certificate, in the name of the candidate for reserved category, if applicable, failing which the application form will be rejected
Original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of admission, if selected
A candidate cannot apply for admission to more than one subject
No separate admit card will be issued for written test
Candidates will have to bring the receipt of the application form at the time of written test
The list of candidates selected for interview will be displayed on the university website www.becs.ac.in
No separate communication in this regards will be made to candidates
