Applications are invited from Indian Citizens for up to 3 proj e c t - funded PhD student positions in the broad areas of Wireless Communication Networks.

Appointments will be continued on yearly basis as per the Institute's PhD students' performance criteria, and the stipends will be drawn from the project funds. In the event of completion of the existing project(s), the funding will be continued from the odier research project funds ofthe PI or through the Institute fellowships - as per the Institute rules.

Cur r ent proj e c t title and numbe r : "Cross-layer protocols for enhanced quality of user experience in broadband wireless networks" (RP02458) (Duration ofthe current project is up to 14.06.2014)


Focus a r e a s of r e s e a r ch:
I. Wireless sensor networks
2. Cognitive radio networks
3. Broadband access and wireless mesh networks
All aspects of research wiII involve mathematical modeling and performance analysis of network protocols, optimization studies, investigation of advanced communication protocol techniques, and performance evaluation via MATLAB/ C/ NS/ Qualnet simulations. Some aspects will involve hardware experiments and user traffic analysis and characterization.

Essential Qualifications and Selection Process:
* { I 51 class ME/MTech}, or { I 51 class BE/BTech/MSc with appropriate GATE score}
* Specialization:
ME/MTech/MSR with specialization in Communication Engineering/Technology, Computer Engineering/Technology, or related areas BE/BTech in Electronics & Commun. Engg./ Computer Science and Engg./ related areas MSc in Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics with orientation/minor in Communication Systems and Networks
* Screening criteria (percentage marks/GPA in academic degree and GATE cutoffs): As per the Electrical Engineering Department cutoff criteria (will be available on the EE Dept and Institute Admissions websites)
* Final Selection: Based on technical interviews in person, to be conducted by the EE Department and participated by the PI. Interview dates of the short-listed candidates will be announced by the EE Dept on the website and Iso will be intimated to the candidates in the interview call letters.


Designation: JRF Professional
Responsibilities: Conducting publication-oriented research in the selected/assigned area(s), helping the PI in research administration

Stipend and highlights:
* Starting basic stipend Rs. 18,000/- p.m. + hostel accommodation, as per the Institute rules
* Performance based additional top-up funding support
