M.Tech, Ph.D Admission 2012 in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Starting July 2012, Jamia Millia Islamia will be offering an M.Tech. in Nanotechnology as also a Ph.D. programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

The Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology was launched in December 2011. This is the first time that the Centre will be offering a Ph.D. and M.Tech. course in Nanotechnology.

The Centre, a one of its kind at an Indian University, seeks to create the necessary conditions for the flow of knowledge, expertise and research as also build required infrastructure to support research at the frontiers of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

The mission of the centre is to promote basic and applied research in the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, with potential applications towards fulfilling national strategic needs. The main research focus of the centre includes Nano-fabrication & Nano-device, Nano-materials & Nano-structures, Nano-biotechnology & Nano-medicine, Nano-structure characterization & measurements.

The Form and Prospectus for the newly launched M.Tech. in Nanotechnology is available on the university website (www.jmi.ac.in ). The form and prospectus can also be bought over the counter on all working days from the Jamia campus.

The M.Tech. course will be spread across 2 years i.e. 4 semesters. There will be 20 seats on offer in this course. The last date for receiving completed application forms is 7th May 2012.

The admission to the programme will be through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview. The eligibility for the programme is (i) M.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry (with Mathematics up to at least Graduation level)/ Electronics/ Material Science/ Electronic Instrumentation with not less than 55% marks in aggregate. OR (ii) Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronic & Communications/ Computer Engg./ Instrumentation or equivalent examination, with not less than 65% marks in the absolute system.

Hi, I have a B.tech degree in the field of biotechnology. My major project was in the field of nano-biotechnology. I wish to pursue an M.tech degree in nanotechnology. Am I eligible for this course in JMI?
