Eligibility for B.Tech. / Integrated M.Tech. programmes:
Ø A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtainedin a single sitting
Ø Students with diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible for direct admission to the second year of the relevant B.Tech. Programme
Ø The candidate should not have completed 19 years as on 1.7.2012. (21 years for Lateral Entry)
Admission Procedure:
Admissions to 70% of the seats will be based on the normalized +2 aggregate marks and remaining 30%
based on AIEEE 2012 rank.
Normalisation Stream:
Admissions to the I year B.Tech. Programme will be based on the marks secured in the +2 qualifying examination following the normalization process. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 aggregate marks will be normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant’s aggregate is 90% then the applicant’s normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions for the 70% of the total seats.
Out of the total seats, 70% of the seats will be filled in the following method. (i) 20% (10%+10%) of intake will be offered to students from Trichy and Thanjavur Districts, provided the applicant has completed both X and XII from any school located in Trichy or Thanjavur District; (ii) 50% of the intake will be offered to those who complete X and XII standards in schools within Tamil Nadu (Puducherry included); (iii) The remaining 30% will be for students who have completed X and XII outside Tamil Nadu.
AIEEE Stream:
The remaining 30% will be alloted by SASTRA based on ranks secured in AIEEE 2012. A separate admission procedure will be intimated to the students and interested students have to apply online to be considered under the AIEEE quota. This application form is only for the normalisation stream.
M.Tech ( 5 Years integrated) programme:
The 5-year integrated M.Tech. programme runs concurrently with B.Tech. programme (in paranthesis) till the seventh semester, after which the student completes PG level courses in 8th & 9th semesters and project work during the 10th semester. After successful completion the student will receive the relevant B.Tech. degree along with the M.Tech. degree.

A pass in Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) (academic stream only) from a recognized board in the first attempt with a minimum aggregate of 50% with English as a subject of study. The applicant should
not have completed 20 years as on 1st September, 2012.
Admission Process: Based on aggregate +2 marks.
