Admission to Ph.D. Programmes

Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) is a premier Academic, Technology Support & Research institute well equipped with state of art machinery/equipments for pursuing interdisciplinary R&D activities in Polymer Science & Engineering with specialization in Materials & Product Development in the areas of Biopolymer, green transportation network, health care, water conservation, automotive, e-waste recycling etc. Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a government owned autonomous university in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India. CUSAT is an unique university of its kind aimed at promotion of excellence in graduate, post graduate studies & advanced research in applied sciences, technology, engineering and social sciences. Centre for Biopolymer Science and Technology (CBPST) - a unit of CIPET- is one of the specialized centres of CIPET which focus on Academic & Research Programmes in the niche areas of Biopolymer Science & Technology aimed at promoting Bioplastics and allied industries in the country in general and Kerala in particular. Applications are invited for admission into Ph.D. Programme in Material Science with special emphasis on Biupolvmers jointly by CBPST & CUSAT.

The last date for submission of completed application is August 10.2012,

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates shall have passed the following qualifying examination with a minimum of 55% Marks: M.Sc. Chemistry / Polymer Chemistry/Biotechnology or M.Tech in Polymer science & Technology/Polymer Nanotechnology/Plastics Engineering/ BioTechnology. 

Preference will be given to NET/CSIR qualified candidates andcandidates having validGATEscore.

Candidates who have not qualified NET/GATE/CSIR will also be selected based on Departmental Admission Test (DAT)/Interview, jointly conducted by Department of Polymer Science & Rubber Technology, CUSAT and CBPST Cochin. 

The successful candidates will be offered scholarship/ assistantship as per CSIR norms & guidelines. Communal reservation of seats shall be as per existing rules of the University.
