The Centre for Tobacco Control and Health Promotion (CTCHP) aims to initiate a ‘domain of discourse’ for tobacco control and strengthen tobacco control activities, particularly at the sub-national level. The website provides access to resources on tobacco control in India and international best practices as well as published research work and case-studies that strengthen the evidence for tobacco control activities.
Public Health Foundation of India is announcing admission for its third batch (2012) of Short-Term (Certificate) Courses on Tobacco Control, under project Strengthening of Tobacco Control Efforts through innovative Partnerships and Strategies (STEPS). We are offering these courses through distance learning for health professionals, legal professionals, administrators, law enforcement officers and journalists. The e-learning mechanism of these certificate courses is specifically designed to allow professionals to work on modules at their own pace.
The curriculum for these courses includes information adapted from material provided by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University of Southern California, with funding support from the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use. These courses offer professional training in tobacco control, addressing prevention, cessation, policy and all other aspects related to tobacco use and tobacco control in global and Indian context. These courses focus on sensitizing and informing professionals and equip them with tobacco control skills which in turn can be integrated into their professional practices. The faculty of these courses includes world renowned tobacco control experts.
