Admission Notice for M. Phil/Ph. D 2012

Applications on the prescribed form  are invited  for  admission to M Phil/  PhD programme of the faculty of Arts in the following subjects:

English, Hindi, Kashmiri, Linguistics, Persian, Sanskrit, Urdu  for 

[M Phil &  PhD programme ] and  Arabic [ PhD programme only ].

The candidates who are desirous in seeking  admission to M Phil programme must have secured not less than 55% marks at Masters level and shall have to qualify an Entrance Test. However the JRF/ NET/  SET qualified candidates and College teachers with five years’ service are exempted from appearing in the Test.

Permanent university teachers with one year substantive service, Contractual university lecturers with one  academic Session, College teachers / School teachers and State employees with two years substantive service are eligible on part time but they have to qualify the Entrance Test. 

The candidates seeking admission to PhD programme must have qualified M.Phil with at least B Grade. Besides, the following categories of the candidates shall be eligible for direct admission to the PhD programme :

a) Candidates having secured  at least 65% of marks at P.G level and at least 60%  of marks In the Entrance Test. However the candidates having qualified JRF or  College / School teachers with fifteen years experience shall be  exempted from the Entrance Test.

b) Permanent university teachers with one year substantive service, Contractual university lecturers with two years service,  College teachers with three years substantive service, Teachers and State employees with four years substantive service are eligible on part time basis.

The application form can be downloaded from the official website www.kashmiruniversity.net and the applicant has to deposit an application fee of  Rs 25/=  or the said can be had  from the sale counter of university on a payment of Rs 25/=.Besides an Entrance Test fee of Rs 175/= is to be deposited in the university chest. 

The last date for receipt of application forms in  the  department concerned is  15th of July, 2012. The dates for holding the Entrance Test will be notified separately.

Note: In-service candidates may enclose a copy of first appointment order with their application form
