Why should you join ?
The Indian power sector is growing very fast to fulfill the mission - Power for all. The manpower requirement in power sector is enormous in Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution sectors. Apart from the Govt. sectors, various Private and Multi National Companies are coming up to Generate and Distribute the power. This course is very useful for those who desire to make bright career in the power sector. The main objective of the course is to create a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment in Indian Power Sector Companies in the category of Jr. Engineers / Supervisors / Sr. Technicians etc.
Eligibility :- Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.
Age :- Maximum 25 years as on 01.08.2012
Selection Criteria :- Candidates shall be short listed on the basis of marks obtained in the Qualifying Diploma (Preferably 60%) examination conducted by recognized college / Institute.
Placement :- NPTI does not provide any guarantee for placement. However, NPTI maintains close linkages with power utilities for employment of their students. In recent time, NPTINER trained degree / diploma engineers have been selected / placed in companies viz. M/s. Vedanta, Adani Power, Essar Power, JSPL, Hindalco, Wartsila, CLP, Avanta Power, IPGCL, GMR, SSI, KSK, KVK, Vardhman, Aryan Group of Power, BORL, L&T, Sterlite, OPGC, Abhijeet Power etc.
Intake Capacity :- 40 (Forty). 10% seats are reserved for sponsored category. If seats remain vacant in this category then the same will be converted into non-sponsored Category.
Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) & PH will be applicable as per Govt. norms.
Fees :-
1) ` 1,20,000/- (in two equal installments) for nonsponsored candidates
2) ` 1,70,000/- (in one installment) for sponsored candidates.
Additional Fees :- Caution deposit ` 2,000/- (Refundable), Conveyance charges ` 2,400/- & Internet charges ` 1,200/- (one time only). ` 7,500/- is payable as placement charge if placed.
Sponsored Candidates :- The candidates sponsored by their employer fulfilling the requirements will be admitted directly.
How to apply :-
Application on plain paper typed in English in the following format, or, downloaded application from website www.nptiguwahati.com / www.npti.in along with the demand draft of ` 500/- in favour of “National Power Training Institute – NER” payable at Guwahati should reach the Director latest by 16.07.2012 along with two recent passport size photographs.

Educational Qualification starting from 10th standard; stating subjects/discipline, Board/University, year of passing, percentage of marks, 10. Experience, 11. Sponsored- / Non- sponsored (if sponsored - attach the sponsorship certificate from employer), 12. D.D. Details & Signature. Attach self attested copies of proof of item No. 3, 6(if OBC/SC/ST/PH), 9, 10 and 11.
Short-listed candidates will be informed through email / phone / letter The fee should be paid at the time of admission through bank challan which may be downloaded from NPTI-NER website.
Lodging / Boarding :- Facilities available for both boys and girls at extra payment of ` 2,400/- per month per student on twin sharing basis excluding food charges(which is around ` 2,200/- per month). Hostel rent to be paid at a time for entire period at the time of admission.
