MBBS/BDS Admissions 2011

The Kerala Christian Professional College Managements’ Federation has invited applications for admission to the MBBS/BDS courses at the member institutions for 2011-12.

Applications have been invited for the MBBS courses at

(i) Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Amala Nagar, Thrisuur

(ii) Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute, Thrisuur

(iii) Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College, Kolencherry, Ernakulam and

(iv) Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Thiruvalla and for the BDS course at Pushpagiri College of Dental Sciences, Thiruvalla.

Each Medical College has an intake of 100 while the lone Dental College has an intake of 50.

For MBBS, the total seats available for admission other than those for the children / dependents of NRIs, as per this notification is 340 of which, 130 are under Open merit which is inclusive of 20 seats reserved for SC/ST. The remaining 210 seats are reserved for various Categories under Community merit which includes 131 seats open to all Christians, 20 to Syro Malabar Catholics, 12 to Latin Catholics, 12 to Arch Diocese of Thrissur, 10 to Malankara Orthodox (1 seat for Dalit Orthodox), 8 for Syro Malabar, 7 for Dalit Christians, 7 for Priests / Nuns, 3 for Alumni of CMI +2 School (Devamatha Province).

For BDS, there are 16 Open merit seats inclusive of 3 seats reserved for SC/ST. The remaining 26 seats are reserved for various Categories under Community merit which includes 12 seats open to all Christians, 10 to Malankara Catholics, 1 for Priests/Nuns, 1 for Dalit Christians, 2 for Latin Catholics.

Applicants should be Indian Citizens and should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or an examination recognized equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in Biology separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/equivalent subjects put together. SC / ST / OBC applicants will be eligible for relaxations in minimum marks as per MCI / DCI norms.

Applicant should be in the Medical Rank list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala on the basis of CET 2011 and should have scored at least 50% marks for he CET (40% for SC/ST/OBC).

Admissions will be based on Inter-se Merit determined by adding marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and marks obtained for Physics, Chemistry and Biology / equivalent subjects in the qualifying examination apportioned in the ratio 50:50. The marks obtained in the qualifying examination will be subjected to Normalization. The process will be done taking into consideration only the marks of those candidates who apply for the courses based on this notification. Details of the process of Normalization are available under Clause 4.1 of the Prospectus.

Sale of Application commences on 27th May, 2011. Separate Application has to be submitted for MBSB and BDS.

The Common Prospectus for MBBS/BDS and separate Application for MBBS and BDS can be obtained from any of the five member colleges on payment of Rs.900/- by Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Kerala Christian Professional College Managements Federation (KCPCMF), payable at Ernakulam.

Application and Prospectus can also be downloaded from www.kcpcmf.in in which case, the filled in form has to be submitted with a DD of Rs.900/- taken as specified.

Application can also be submitted online at the website www.kcpcmf.in in which case a printout of the submitted from has to be submitted along with the DD for Rs.900/- by the last date.

Filled in Application along with the necessary documents listed in the Prospectus should reach any one of the colleges latest by 3 pm on 6th June, 2011.

The details of all applications received including marks etc., will be published on the website of the Federation immediately after the last date for application.

Details will be published at the website on 10th June, 2011.

The last date for notifying defects if any by candidates will be 12th June, 2011.


Allotments will be through a Single Window System monitored by the Federation. Allotment to MBBS & BDS Courses will be separate and independent.

Publication of merit list and first allotment will be on 18th June, 2011. Admissions will commence on 21st June, 2011.

The Annual Tuition Fee* for the different colleges as per the Prospectus is as follows:
(i) Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Amala Nagar, Thrisuur- Rs.3,75,000/-
(ii) Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute, Thrisuur- Rs.3,75,000/-
(iii) Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College, Kolencherry, Ernakulam-Rs.3.90,000/-
(iv) Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Thiruvalla - Rs.4,10,000/-
(v) Pushpagiri College of Dental Sciences, Thiruvalla - RS.2,50,000/-
*The Prospectus also states that the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala as per Order dated 6.4.11 has permitted the four medical colleges to collect Rs.3,50,000/- as tuition fees from students admitted in 2011-12.

In addition, the candidates will have to pay and admission fee of Rs.1000/- and a Refundable caution deposit of Rs.10000/- for MBBS and BDS.
