AIMA Global Advanced Management Program 2013

Global Advanced Management Program 2013
“Strategies for Global Competitiveness:
Understanding the China Model”
Shanghai, China, January 13 - 19, 2013

Programme Background
Propelled by the rise of emerging economies, the structure of the global economy is changing rapidly and dramatically. By 2025, emerging economies will account for 55-60% of the world’s GDP, up from 32% today. By then, Asia’s GDP will be larger than that of the US and Europe combined. China would have overtaken the US to become the world’s largest economy. And, quite likely, India would have overtaken Japan to become the world’s 3rd largest. These trends are transforming conventional thinking about what it takes for any company to succeed on the global stage.

The new logic of global competitiveness dictates that, for any company with global aspirations, emerging markets are becoming far more important than developed markets. As the single biggest emerging market of all, this makes China particularly central for any company. It is inevitable that, over the next 10 years, business leaders from every country will have to become smarter at how to work with their Chinese peers – as customers, as suppliers, as partners, and as competitors. The starting point of building this smartness is to deepen one’s knowledge of China.
