TIFR
invites applications for mid-term admission to its Graduate Programs leading to
the Ph.D degrees in the subjects given below:

GRADUATE SCHOOL:
Academic
activities for students admitted through mid-term interviews start from
January, 2013.
Stipend:
Ph.D. students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 16,000/- (enhanced to Rs
18,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency of Rs 20,000/-.
ELIGIBILITY:
•Physics
(Ph.D. program):
•For
Ph.D. program in TIFR Mumbai: M.Sc. (Physics); B.Tech. (Engg. Physics). The
candidate must also have qualified for CSIR junior research fellowship through
NET held in December 2011 or June 2012.
•For
Ph.D. program in TCIS Hyderabad: M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry or Biology);
B.Tech.(Engg Physics).
The
candidate must also have qualified in any of the following examinations:
i)
called for interview in GS2012 or
ii)
a valid GATE score (with percentile above ninety five) or
iii)
JEST (with percentile above ninety five) or a valid NET qualification (with a
fellowship).
•Chemistry
(Ph.D. program):
•For
Ph.D. program in TIFR, Mumbai and TCIS, Hyderabad: M.Sc. /B.Tech /M.Tech. The
candidate must also have a valid CSIR Junior Research Fellowship.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE: The admissions
procedure consists of an interview in December 2012. Selected candidates (based on their
Performance in the qualifying degree and the qualifying tests above as
applicable) will be called for a personal interview on the 17th and 18th of
December, 2012 (for Ph.D. program in Chemistry at TIFR, Mumbai and at TCIS,
Hyderabad), and the 19th, 20th and 21st of December, 2012 (for Ph.D programs in
Physics at TIFR, Mumbai and TCIS, Hyderabad). All the interviews will be held
in TIFR Mumbai.
