Central Universities Entrance Examination (CUCET) 2014

The Central Universities Entrance Examination (CUCET) for UG/Integrated Programmes will be held on April 26 & 27, 2014 and that for Postgraduate & Research Programmes on 17th & 18th May 2014.

CUCET is a common entrance test for admission to the various Under-Graduate/Integrated Programmes, Post Graduate & Research Programmes in Central Universities of Haryana (www.cuharyana.org),  Jammu (www.cujammu.in),  Jharkhand (www.cuj.ac.in),  Kashmir (www.cukashmir.ac.in),  Kerala (www.cukerala.ac.in),  Rajasthan (www.curaj.ac.in)  & Tamil Nadu (www.cutn.ac.in).  

CUCET is being organized by seven Central Universities together, for admission to about 200 Integrated/ undergraduate, Post-graduate and Research Programmes in these Universities. It provides a single window opportunity to the students to seek admission to about 200 programmes in seven central universities across the country.

The Integrated Programmes include Integrated B.A./B.Sc. B.Ed Programmes (4 years), Integrated BA/M.A. Programmes, Integrated M.A. Programmes (5 years), Integrated M.B.A. Programme (5 years), Integrated M. Tech. Programmes (5 years), Integrated M.Sc. Programmes (5 years), Integrated M. Sc. B. Ed. Programmes (6 years) and Integrated Law Programme (5 years). There is also a Bachelor's Programme (3 Years) in Vocal Music / Theatre. The General eligibility for all integrated and under-graduate programmes is successful completion of 10+2 or equivalent. Those who have appeared for the final examinations are eligible to apply.

Eligible students can apply for a maximum of 3 options of programmes/courses of his/her choice subject to satisfying eligibility conditions. For each of the programme option chosen, applicant may give maximum of 3 preferences of Universities offering the programme, subject to the timings of tests. No refund will be admissible on this account.

Applications can be submitted online at http://cucet2014.co.in/ . There is no provision for offline application.

Applicants should have a valid personal email ID and mobile number. These should be kept active during the entire admission process. The university may send alerts, important communications etc. regarding entrance test, through the registered email ID. Before applying online, applicant will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications given. The latest digital photograph should be of size between 1 KB- 500 KB and of dimensions, 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).

The scanned signature should be of dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred) and size of file should be between 1kb-500kb. The detailed information about this has been given in the guidelines to upload photograph & signature. Applicants are required to fill in the details asked in the form carefully without making any spelling mistake. A candidate may fill the form partially and login again to complete it as early as possible. Candidates will receive SMSs and Email alerts at the time of registration and completing registration.

On submission of online application successfully, applicants can make the payment for their selected programme by online or offline mode of payment. Application fee can be paid either by online/debit/credit card or through Challan. For payment through online/ debit/ credit card, no extra charges are to be paid by the candidates. If a candidate pays the examination fee through Offline Challan mode of SBI, the bank charges of INR 50/- will have to be borne by the applicant.

Application fee for General / OBC Candidates will be Rs.500/-for One programme, Rs.600/- for two programmes and Rs.700/- for three programmes. For SC/ST/PWD Candidates, it will be Rs.250/- for one programme, Rs.300/- for two programmes and Rs.350/- for three programmes.

In case of payment through Challan, the fee is Rs.550/-for one programme, Rs.650 for two programmes and Rs.750/- for three programmes, for General / OBC Candidates. It will be Rs.300/-for one programme, Rs.350/- for two programmes and Rs.400/- for three programmes for SC/ST/PWD applicants.

For online payment, applicants may use Net banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. After making the payment, system will generate a registration slip. Applicants should take a print out of this registration slip and keep it with them safely.

On successful online application submission and online/debit card/credit fee payment, an automated e-mail and SMS will be sent to the mail id & mobile number given in the application form. For offline payment, applicant has to click on ‘Generate Bank Challan’. On clicking, system will generate a SBI challan with auto populated details of applicant. There will be two copies of challan - Applicant's copy and Bank's copy. Applicants are supposed to take a print out of this challan. System will also generate a registration slip. Applicants should take a print out of this registration slip and keep it with them safely.

Applicants should visit any SBI branch along with the printout of the challan to make the payment of the amount mentioned on challan. After making the payment in any SBI branch, applicants are supposed to obtain the Applicant's Copy of the Fee Payment Challan duly received by the Bank with (a) Branch Name & Code Number (b) Transaction ID/Journal No & (c) Date of Deposit filled by the Branch Official along with bank seal. This is applicant's copy of SBI bank challan which has to be retained by the applicant. When payment is made through ‘Challan’, applicant may have to wait for 7 days for confirmation If it is not receive it within 7 days, applicant may send an email to CUCET email id, queries@cucet2014.co.in.

Last date for applying for UG/Integrated Programmes is April 2, 2014 (Wednesday) and the last date to remit fee through Challan in SBI will be 3rd April 2014. Last date for applying for PG/RP Integrated Programmes is April 10, 2014 (Thursday).

Applicants should download the Hall Ticket on after the date specified from website by entering application number & date of birth. Applicants will be intimated about the same by e-mail/SMS alerts. Intimation or Hall Ticket will not be sent by post.

For admission to all Integrated/Undergraduate programmes, CUCET tests will be based on the standard expected at 12th Standard. For postgraduate programmes, the subject related questions will be based on undergraduate / degree level syllabus. For research programmes, knowledge at post-graduate level and JRF/NET is expected.

The tests for admission to all other programmes will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in two (or more) sections. The first section (35 marks) will deal with language (English) proficiency, general awareness and analytical skills. The second/remaining section(s) will be based on subject domain. The question papers for admission to language programmes will contain questions requiring objective (MCQs) and/or descriptive (short/long) answers.

The results of Undergraduate & Integrated Programmes are expected on 7th May 2014 and that of Postgraduate & Research Programmes, on 2nd June 2014.

Admissions are handled at the level of each of the seven Central Universities, for their respective programs. After the declaration of the CUCET results, the respective Central Universities will declare the counseling/admission schedule and merit list based on the weightage on CUCET score and the other criteria.

The common criteria are (i) whether one has applied for that particular program in that University as a first choice. (If seats are available, candidates with second and third choices may also be considered) (ii) the ranking in the CUCET for that program (higher the score, better are the chances) (iii) Meeting the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University. It may kindly be noted that each University offers admission to the students on merit on the basis of CUCET score and other criteria decided by it.
