One year Certificate Course in Theatre-in-Education “TIE” Tripura (2014-15)
National School of Drama [TIE Wing], Tripura at Agartala in
collaboration with Dept. of Information & Cultural Affairs and Higher
Education, Govt. of Tripura. The wing offers one year residential certificate
course in Theatre-in-Education and draws students from Tripura and the rest of
India. The course aims at preparing theatre teachers for schools and Artist TIE
activities.
The Tripura Project is unique because this is the first institutional
attempt to make Theatre in Education an independent discipline that encompasses
several other disciplines that relate to a child’s education and creative
expression. To keep in mind, How theatre and drama educate young people, this
course has been designed in a multi disciplinary manner to equip the students
with theatre expertise where courses familiarise them with basics of theatre
history, design, content and stagecraft. What makes this course unique is the
student of theatre is provided foundation courses in child development and
linkages between the potential of drama and the classroom. There is a strong
attempt to provide holistic training by rich field based experiences where the prospective
students will be guided to integrate the learning and work in mediated
environments to absorb the applicability for children. The guided fieldwork and
hands on work will enable students to experience the significance of theatre as
a tool to communicate, as a medium that addresses multiple competencies and is
enjoyed by children as a subject in itself.
