The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED), the qualifying examination for admission to Master of Design (M.Des) Programmes at IISc Bangalore (M.Des in Product Design and Engineering); IIT Bombay [M.Des in (i) Industrial Design (ii) Visual Communication (iii) Animation (iv) Interaction Design (v) Mobility and Transportation Design (Subject to approval]; IIT Delhi (M.Des in Industrial Design); IIT Guwahati (M.Des) and IIT Kanpur (M.Des in Industrial Design) and Ph.D. Programmes in Design in some of these Institutes, for the Academic Year 2010-11, will be held from 14.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs on 17th January 2010 (Sunday) at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mumbai, and Roorkee. GATE qualified candidates will also be considered for admission to the M.Des Programmes at IISc Bangalore and IIT Kanpur

CEED to assess the candidate's aptitude for design, involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity and communication skills, with the question paper in English will be of 3 hours duration without any break. Candidates should report to the examination centre, at least half an hour before the scheduled commencement of the examination. A candidate has to bring his/her own pencils of different grades (e.g. H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B etc.), sketch pens, poster colors, and other drawing materials for the examination. Applicant must either have completed or should be expecting to complete any of the following, by July 2010:

(i) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design/Interior Design, or equivalent

(ii) Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent)

(iii) B.F.A. (4 year Professional Programme after 10+2)

(iv) G.D. Art (5 year Programme after 10th) with one year Professional experience

(v) Master's Degree in Arts/Science/Computer Applications

Applicants must ensure their eligibility for specific Programme they are interested in. There is no age limit. A person can appear for CEED any number of times. Information Brochure of CEED 2010 can be downloaded from http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/ceed2010/index.html  CEED Application has to be submitted 'ONLINE'.  The first step is to obtain a Demand Draft for the prescribed fee of Rs.950/- (Rs.475/- for SC/ST/PD Applicants), by way of a Demand Draft having a validity of 6 months, taken in favour of 'IIT Bombay', payable at Mumbai.
The details of the Demand Draft are required for filling the ONLINE Application Form.

The second step is the Registration at CEED ONLINE Application link at
http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/ceed2010/online_proc.htm which will be open from 22nd September, 2009 to 26th October, 2009. Here, on typing the Name & email address in the form, the applicant will be provided with a Registration ID which may be noted for future reference. The Registration ID will also be sent to the email address entered.

The third step is the Filling of 'Online' Application by the Registered Applicant, as per the Instructions given at CEED Online Application Homepage. After entering the details, before clicking on 'Submit Finally', to submit the details, applicant must check that all information filled is correct. ONLINE Application Form can not be edited further after using 'Submit Finally' option.

The fourth step is the submission of ONLINE Application Printout, either by Post/in person to GATE Office. The applicant must take a print out of the ONLINE Application which gives the Application Number of the Applicant. This Printout has to be completed by signing with black pen within the box provided, pasting a good contrast photograph of 3cm width x 4cm height within the box, signing the 'Declaration by the Applicant', and ticking  in the appropriate box(es) in the form after attaching the relevant certificate(s) from the appropriate authority along with the application print out.

The completed ONLINE Application Printout, along with the Demand Draft with the Name and Application Number written on the back of the DD and other enclosures (if any), with the words 'CEED 2010 ONLINE Application', written on the top of the envelope, should reach GATE Office, IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai-400076, in person or by Registered/Speed Post latest by November 3, 2009 (Tuesday).  

Admit Cards will be dispatched from 20th December 2009. Results will be announced after 10 am on 26th March 2010.

A candidate has to apply to respective Institutes for admission and fulfill other requirements such as tests and interviews of the respective institutions for admission which will be notified separately by the different institutes, between January and April 2010. A limited number of assistantships, based on merit, are available to CEED qualified students, to pursue the Programmes. The criteria for Postgraduate admission and award of scholarship/assistance are different in different institutes. Some information is available in the Information Brochure.
