National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad ADMISSIONS 2010-2012 Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD)

National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad-380 007, has notified the admissions to Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) of the Institute for 2010-11 academic year. Four year GDPD Programmes which includes a foundation year, are offered in (i) Faculty of Industrial Design [Product Design (15 seats), Furniture & Interior Design (10 seats), Ceramic & Glass Design (10 seats)] (ii) Faculty of Communication Design [Graphic Design (15), Animation Film Design(15), Film & Video Communication (10), Exhibition (Spatial) Design (10)] (iii) Faculty of Textiles, Apparel and Lifestyle Design [Textile Design (15)].

Those who have passed or who will be appearing in March 2010 for qualifying examination under Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent like AISSCE/ICSE etc., are eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma Programme in Design. Upper age limit is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2010.

Two to Two and a Half years PGDPD Programmes are offered at
(i) Main Campus Ahmedabad [Product Design(15), Transportation and Automobile Design (10), Furniture & Interior Design (15), Ceramic & Glass Design (10), Textile Design (15), Graphic Design (15) Animation Film Design (15), Film and Video Communication (15), Photography Design (15)]
(ii) PG Campus Gandhinagar [Toy & Game Design (10), Apparel Design & Merchandising (15), Lifestyle Accessory Design (15), New Media Design (15), Strategic Design Management (15)]
(iii) R&D Campus Bengaluru [Information & Interface Design (15), Design for Retail Experience (15), Design for Digital Experience (15)]

Those having a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, including those who will be appearing for the qualifying examination during the academic year 2009-10, are eligible for the separate test for PGDPD. The eligibility for the specific disciplines can be had from the website of NID or from the Admission Brochure. Upper age limit is 27 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2010. Those applying for more than one Programme should send in separate application forms. One cannot apply for more than two PG Programmes. 

Seats are reserved for SC/ST/PH/OBC candidates as per Government of India nrms. Test for GDPD & PGDPD for eligible applicants will be held at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Test for PGDPD will be held at all centres on January 9, 2010 and that for GDPD at all centres on January, 10, 2010. Issue of Application from starts on October 9, 2009. Forms can be had from select branches of Bank of India (list to be available at www.nid.edu) on payment of Rs.1500/- towards the cost of the form and Rs.50/- as Bank charges. Forms can also be had from 'Academic Office, NID, Ahmedabad' by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for SC/ST/PH/OBC who should send a copy of the relevant document form the competent authority), drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of 'National Institute of Design' payable at Ahmedabad along with a self addressed envelope of size 9" x 12" with stamps worth Rs.40/- affixed and the cover marked 'NID Admissions 2010'.

Facility will be provided to download forms from http://www.nid.edu/downlaods  Forms for reserved categories at concessional rate would be available only form NID, Ahmedabad.

Last date for receipt of filled in applications at NID is October 31, 2009.
