NOTIFICATION FOR Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST-2012 CENTRAL OFFICE : POST GRADUATE DEPARTMENTS SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY, JYOTIVIHAR-768019
Applications are invited from the Intending Candidates to appear Ph.D. entrance written test under various faculties of the Sarnbalpur University.
Eligibility: Masters Degree holders in Arts, Science, Commerce. Management, Education. Law & Medical (Allopathy, Ayurvedic & Homeopathy), Engineering & Technology Examinations of Sarnbalpur University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by UGC with at least 2nd Class marks in relevant subject(s) are eligible for enrolment in Ph.D. programme. Subjects in which the marks are not awarded, equivalent grade shall be taken into account. The examination (objective type) will be held on 30.09.2012 in Sarnbalpur University campus at Jyoti Vihar in the following subjects.
Anthropology, Home Science, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Environmental Science Botany, Life Science Microbiology, Biotechnology. Odia, Economics, English, History, Political Science Geology. Management, Ayurvedic, Education, Sanskrit, Psychology.
It is mandatory for each candidate desiring to enroli in tho Ph.D. programme of Sarnbalpur University to appear the entrance test and declare qualified securing a minimum of 50% marks. Intending candidate shall apply in the prescribed format available in the P.G. Central Office during office hours on working days in person on payment of Rs.500/- in cash.
The following category of candidates shall be exempted from appearing at the Written Test.
a. Candidates who have qualified in UGC/CSIR (JRF) and GATE Examination.
b. Teachers who have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in the College/University level.
c. Those who have a minimum of frve years of professional experience.
d. Candidates having M. Phil. Degree of Sarnbalpur University with course work
The decision of University authority in this regard shall be final.
The final selection of all qualified candidates shall be based on career (80%) and Viva-Voce (20%) which will be conducted by the respective Nodal Centres on pre-notified date. All such selected candidates shall be eligible to enroll in Ph.D. Course Work equivalent to 15 Semester of M.Phil, in the Nodal Centre. A candidate securing a minimum of 6.5 Grade Point in the Course Work shall be eligible for Ph.D. registration under Sarnbalpur University.
The application filled in the prescribed format in duplicate along with the bank draft of Rs.1,0007- (nonrefundable) for entrance test in favour of Chairman, P.G. Council, two recent attested passport size photographs and other academic records showing the qualification of the candidates, money receipt of form etc. must reach the undersigned on or before 25.08.2012. Applications received after the due date shall be rejected. The format can be downloaded from the University website, www.suniv.ac.in . In case of downloaded application form, fee shall be Rs. 1,500/- only towards cost of application form and processing/entrance test fee.

Instructions to Candidates
1. Eligibility
A Master Degree holder in Arts, Science. Education, Commerce, Management, Electronics, Computi Science, Information Technology, Law or Medicine with 2nd class or equivalent grade of Sarnbalpur University or an other recognized University may register himself/herself as a candidate for the Ph.D. Degree provided that n candidate shall be allowed to submit his/her Ph.D. thesis at any time before two years from the date of passing tr examination for the Master Degree.
2. Cost of Application
(i) Cost of Application form for Ph.D. Entrance Test is Rs.500/- which can be obtained from the Office of tr Chairman, P.G. Council, Sarnbalpur University-768019 during office hours in person on payment at th counter.
(ii) Processing/Entrance Test fee is Rs. 1,000/- to be submitted along with the application form in shape < Bank Draft drawn in favour of Chairman, P.G. Council payable at SBI, Jyoti Vihar
(iii) Candidate can also download the application form from the University Website: www.sunJT.acin , whei the fee will be Rs.l ,500/- only towards the cost of application form and processing/entrance test fee to t paid by Account Payee Bank Draft in favour of Chairman, P.G. Council payable at SBI, Jyoti Vihar.
3. Entrance Examination
It is mandatory for each candidate desiring to enroll in the Ph.D. Programme of Sarnbalpur University t appear the Entrance Test and must secure a minimum of 50% marks.
The candidates who have qualified in UGC/CSIR(JRF) & GATE / having minimum five years of continuoi teaching experience in Colleges (+3 & or P.G.) or Universities / have minimum five years of professional experience having M.Phil. Degree of Sarnbalpur University with course work / has successfully passed the Is' Semester course < M.Phil. Programme under revised regulation effective from 2011 with 6.5 OGPA are exempted from appearing tr entrance test.
4. Final Selection
The final selection out of the short listed candidates from the entrance examination and exemption, will b based on the Viva-Voce (20%) and Career (80%) weightage.
5. Students with M.Phil, from other Universities Where a candidate has done M.Phil, from other University with course work and willing to apply for Ph.f under Sarnbalpur University, he/she will get the credit and shall be exempted from the course work. However, sue candidate will have to appear in the entrance test as applicable to a fresh candidate directly joining Ph.D. programme.
6. Other related fees
(1) Admission Fee (Both for Course work & exempted category)
Humanities - Rs.600.00
Science - Rs.700.00
(2) Course Work Fee (only for course work candidate) - Rs.500f).00
(3) Infrastructure & Academic Development Fee (Annual) In the respective Nodal Centre Humanities - Rs.2000/-
Science/Engineering - Rs.3000.00
(4) Seminar Fee (Annual) (in the Nodal Centre) - Rs. 1000.00
(5) Ph.D. Registration Form - Rs.500.00
(6) Ph.D. Registration Fee (one time) Rs.5000.00
(7) Annual Registration Fee (per year, upto five years) - Rs.3000.00
(8) For Extension of Regn. Fee beyond five years - Rs.5000.00
(I year term, twice maximum)
(9) Submission & Evaluation Fee - Rs. 15000.00
(10) Fees for change ot title - Rs.500.00
(11) Fees for Regn. No. (in case of migration from other University) - As per University norms
